BBD Driven Optimization of Extraction of Therapeutically Active Xanthanoid Mangiferin from Mangifera indica L. Leaves and its Antioxidant Activity

Abstract:Background: Mangiferin, a C-glucosyl xanthone present in Mangifera indica leaves exhibits profuse pharmacological activities. Our research highlights the process parameter at which high yield Mangiferin can be extracted from "one run." Objectives: The study compares efficacy different modern traditional methods for mangiferin extraction. Box-Behnken Design (BBD), was employed optimizing parameters extraction leaves. Materials Methods: Extraction conditions (extraction temperature, drug to solvent ratio, time) were optimized by Response-Surface Methodology (RSM), specifically BBD. Quantification analysis extracts done using HPLC. Further, antioxidant potential M. solvents evaluated DPPH method. Results: Reflux technique, hot method, conferred highest ethanol found most efficient extractive solvent. Through use BBD, optimal established as time- 63.653 min, temperature- 63.563°C ratio- 1:22.634 g/ml. Under such conditions, yielded 90.31 mg/g, nearly close predicted value 91.096 mg/g. ethanolic extract has revealed significant with percentage inhibition 59.76 %. Conclusion: reflux technique stood out best amongst all other thermal non-thermal modes used, proves extracting Additionally, significantly affected three variables.
